Soundslides: Selma relief efforts
At the time this was produced, I was working as the only photog for two small weekly newspapers outside of Fresno California.
They were small communities and small papers. Neither were ready for any sort of multimedia content.
The paper’s Web site was a rented template that had no customization potential to it and therefore not ready or capable of hosting multimedia content like video or audio slide shows.
But learn and grow or die.
So regardless of whether the project could be hosted or not, I had recently purchased an M-Audio Microtrack 24/96 digital audio recorder and a license for Soundslides software and I was eager to start learning multimedia storytelling.
This was my first attempt at a soundslides piece so no flaming up on me in the comments section.
The print reporter for the paper at the time had a quick “valentine” of an assignment for us to cover and I thought of making it a little more substantial with some multimedia.
