Video: Fresno heat MOS
So it’s the summer of 2007 and the city is going through the typical heat wave that hits us every summer in Fresno.
My editor gets a great idea for an MOS and sends me out in the hottest part of the day with the camera and sticks (tri-pod) to interview people in downtown Fresno for an MOS to post to the Web site.
“What are you doing to beat the heat?” is the premise for the MOS.
Gripping journalism huh? Like a good worker bee I set out to complete the assignment and make my editor happy.
One thing you should know, this is Fresno and it’s summer, on like our 30th straight day of 130 degree heat. First of all, we drive everywhere in Fresno. We won’t walk across the street if we can drive there. Plus, it’s 130 outside — ok, maybe not that hot, but it’s 110 at least — where in the hell am I going to find people just relaxing outside waiting for me to walk up and put a video camera in their face to get an interview?
Seriously, this MOS took hours to complete. But I returned to the newsroom (soaking wet in my own sweat and probably 10 lbs. lighter) with content. A few hours in the editing bay and we have an MOS for the site.
So I give you the Heat MOS - my least fun video ever shot.
